Mad Science After School Programs are packed with fascinating demonstrations and inquiry based learning that provides solid educational value. Our curriculum meets state and national science standards and is continuoulsy being tested and measured. Programs are taught by trained, qualified dynamic instructors who follow professional lesson plans, use unique equipment, and original materials. But most importantly, our programs are kid approved. In Mad Science, we give children a chance to see just how cool science can be!



Mad Science is on a misson to spark the imagination and curiosity of children by providing them with fun, interactive and educational programs that instill a clear understanding about science and how it affects their world.

Mad Science After School
  • Location: Russell School - Room 20
  • Dunn School students will be riding bus #12 directly afterschool.
  • Please send a note to school confirmating your child's participation in the program.
  • Program Time: 3:15-4:15pm
  • Grades K-4th Grade
  • All supplies and materials are included in the class fee.
  • Students must be picked up promptly at the classroom door upon dismissal of program.
  • Late Pickup Fee will be charged at the rate of $1.00 per minute and must be paid in cash directly to the Mad Scientist prior to the start of the next class in order for your child to continue.
  • Mad Science has a zero-tolerance policy regarding violence of any kind.
  • Fall Class:
  • Project Earth- Get connected to the real world through this series of classes about our very own planet Earth! Get ready to dig your heals into the dirt and get stuck to science as you build a bond with glue and get attached to Professor Beakerdude! Break out your safari outfit for an expedition into the diverse life of the Animal Kingdom! Scuba the great depths of the ocean life. Whether you are blasting off into the Earth's Atmosphere or sliding down the colorful pH scale, the earth has no limit, nor does our imagination. But guess what? You won't even know that you are in the classroom because we will take you to all corners of the earth and beyond with the Project Earth Afterschool Program!
  • Late Fall Class:
  • Energize It-Energize your mind with Mad Science as we explore the many facets of energy and motion! Reach for your potential...and kinetic energy as you experiment with gadgets, cars and catapults. Get Loco with Newton as you learn his three Laws of Motion. Conduct hair raising experiments with an Electrostatic Generator. Hop on board the chemistry express for a high-speed science experiment with split-second reactions that go like mad! Are you ready for some sparks in this animated romp into energy? Put your seat belt on...this program is so energizing, even gravity won't keep you down!
  • Winter Class:
  • Jump into the Future-Calling all Creators, Inventors, Visionaries, and Future Explorers! Jump into the future afterschool with Mad Science! With our innovative programming, we will inspire your child to not just ride the wave of the future, but to create it! In this exciting new program, we will embark on a quest for alternative energy by experimenting with parabolic mirrors and fuel cells, find hidden mountains using the principles of radar technology, and create a telephone network to connect with your classmates. And just when you thought the future could not get any brighter, you will have the chance to jump into the atomic make-up of matter, use a large child-operated pulley system and make a soccer robot score a goal! In this afterschool program, we don't just look to the future, but jump into it!
  • Spring Class:
  • Sensational Science-What do optical illusions, slime, solving mysteries and taste buds have in common? Use your common senses and we will figure it out in this series of Sensational Science! Test your brain with tricky mirrors, see if you have good taste and smell with the scratch and match experiment, and begin to glow as you probe the properties of light and explore some unusual applications! Delve into aspects of detective science as you experiment with fingerprint analysis and use the Fingerprint Finder to place and identify UV prints. Be sure to use your observation skills because we will try to trick your senses through slight of hand, misdirection and hidden compartments. Not to worry, we will then undo the mystery of magic by explaining it with science right before you ooze into gooey hour of sliming around. This series of programs is guaranteed to make your sense run wild!
