Skiing Class
The Maine Winter Sports Center at Pineland and Gray Recreation Department will again be offering the afterschool Nordic Skiing Program. This program is designed to promote a healthy winter lifestyle to children in Gray- New Gloucester. The structured on-snow games, skills development and activities will keep the participants moving and having fun! Maine Winter Sports will be providing a complete Nordic ski package (boots, poles, skis and equipment bag) to each participant.  This equipment can be brought home to utilize in the backyard or at local trails for the whole season. 

You MUST participate in the afterschool program if you are signing up for this program. You may NOT just sign up for the skis and not participate. The purpose of this program is to provide lessons on how to safely utilize the equipment, learn skill development and motivate the children to broaden their horizons!

General Information
  • Maine Winter Sports Center will be providing a complete Nordic Ski Package (boots, poles, skis and equipment bag) to each participant.
  • This equipment can be brought home to utilize in the backyard or at local trails for the whole ski season.
  • The ski equipment cannot be brought on the school bus so it must be dropped off at the school on the day of the program.
  • Racks will be available in the front of each school for the poles/skis.
  • Boots should be placed in backpacks.
  • Please understand: You MUST participate in the after school program if you are signing up for this. You may NOT just sign up for the equipment and not attend.
  • We are in need of volunteer ski instructors. If you enjoy Nordic Skiing, being outdoors and teaching children, please contact Dean Bennett at 657-2323.
  • Mandatory equipment fitting for all grades! You MUST attend this event on Wednesday, December 21st from 5:30-7:00 pm in the second floor of the Henry Pennell Municipal Building.
  • REGISTRATION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF ON-LINE PRIOR TO THIS EQUIPMENT FITTING NIGHT!
  • Registrations will close after equipment fitting night.
